The ad campaign might be all 2013 now, but if you’re really and truly looking for The Most Interesting Man In The World, college football, meet Coastal Carolina head coach Joe Moglia.

If a high-powered oil executive can be Secretary of State, then why can’t the Chairman of the Board at TD Ameritrade by the head coach at the newest FBS college football program?

It actually makes perfect sense. Making the move from the being an FCS independent to the FBS isn’t quite as easy as it might appear. It takes a massive effort as a school to get the fan base and the facilities in place to make it all happen, and it takes a whole lot of money committed to play in the college football big leagues.

And who better to help make financial side of things to work better than a guy whose a part of the world-level money-making world?

Moglia can coach a little, too, going 51-15 in five years a Coastal Carolina with four trips to the FCS playoffs before going 10-2 last year in the transition into the FBS, winning the 2015 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year honor.

The guy can negotiate million dollar deals for breakfast, and then crank out a kick-ass football team on Saturday afternoons.

Of course, with the move up in status comes to the work of filling the extra scholarships and getting the talent level up to a competitive standpoint. Coastal Carolina might have been an FCS powerhouse, but it’s a bad year team-wise to make this move.

Last year would’ve been been better in terms of personnel, because the 2017 Chanticleers have to three of the top six and five of the top ten tacklers, star RB De’Angelo Henderson, three starting offensive linemen, and hope for the musical chairs situation at quarterback to figure itself out.

There will be moments when the new guy has to undergo the initiation and catch a beating or three from the FBSer who has everything together, but this isn’t going to be your typical speedbump team that looks and plays lost.

No one’s expecting a run to a Sun Belt title right away, but you don’t accomplish the things Moglia has without knowing how to get things done in a hurry. The pieces are there to quickly grow into a Sun Belt powerhouse.

And, at the very least, Coastal Carolina will always win the My Coach Can Buy Your Coach debate.
