Oklahoma Sooners Recruiting Class Overview

There’s the recruiting class Oklahoma’s been waiting for. Far better than last year’s class, and ten miles ahead of anyone else in the Big 12, the Sooners came up with great get after great get with a terrific combination of star power to go along with the bulk talents. From OG Tyrese Robinson, RB Kennedy Brooks and CB Tre Brown, to LB Levi Draper, S Robert Barnes and OT Adrian Ealy, that’s just scratching the surface on the great prospects brought in. It’s not just that Bob Stoops got the guys everyone else wanted; it’s that he got a whole bunch of them.

The Oklahoma Sooners Class Is Heavy On …

The passing game. Chris Robison and Kennedy Brooks are both baller quarterbacks who fit what the Sooner offense likes to do now – they’re smallish playmakers who can do things on the move. The eventual starter will have a loaded group of receivers to play around with, led by Marquise Brown – a terrific JUCO transfer with dangerous deep speed – and high schoolers CeeDee Lamb and Charleston Rambo two potentially devastating home run hitters.

The Star of the Oklahoma Sooners Class Is …

S Robert Barnes, 6-2, 190, Southlake, TX – Pick any of the receivers and you might have the No. 1 guy, and Robinson could turn into the next great OU quarterback, but it’s Barnes who should be the standout of the class. He needs to hit the weights – he’s a bit rangy and has to fill out his frame – but he’s a massive hitter who can attack the ball.

The Oklahoma Sooners Biggest 2017 Depth Chart Hole Is …

Running back. Is Abdul Adams ready? How about Dimitri Flowers? Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine each ran for over 1,000-yards and double-digit scores, combining for 2,334 yards and 22 touchdowns – they’ll be missed. Oklahoma has a big-time offensive line returning, and the offense will revolve around Baker Mayfield, but for this O to rock again, the backs have to be in place.
