What’s Going To Happen
Alright, Western Michigan. You want to win the MAC again? Then go and take it.
Central Michigan is still a factor in the overall tie-breaker, but if the Broncos beat NIU this week and Toledo next week, they’ll almost certainly take the West.
The Broncos haven’t been smooth. The offense has been spotty, and there have been a few key meltdowns – like to CMU on national TV – but the talent is still there to pull this off on the road.
NIU had its moment against Toledo two weeks about, and it blew it in a 27-17 loss. However, if it beats WMU this week and CMU next week, it’ll be right there with a chance of its own to take the division.
Both teams are going bowling, and both teams are better than Akron from the East – even though the Zips stopped WMU earlier in the year. It’s a MAC title elimination game, and both teams will play like it.
The Huskie D will come though at home against the middling WMU O.
The NIU leads the nation in tackles for loss, and it’s on top of the MAC in third down defense. But Western Michigan leads the MAC in rushing.
What the Broncos can’t do is throw with Reece Goddard under center. He can move, and Jarvion Franklin is coming up with a strong season as one of the league’s best rushers, but the NIU D will tee off on the WMU running game.
