The College Football Playoff & New Year’s Six Matchups Will Be …
After a tremendous week of wild blowouts and upsets, here’s the best guess on what the College Football Playoff and New Year’s Six will be.

Georgia vs. ucf
What Will Happen: The Bulldogs will lose the SEC Championship to Alabama, but at 10-2 they’ll be the perfect fit to stay close to home. The Bulldog crowd will be there, but the UCF fans will show up and help fill the building.
clemson vs. Penn state
What Will Happen: There’s a bit of a rematch issue here. The Orange would love to take Auburn as an SEC representative over the Big Ten, with the bowl being forced to take an ACC team, the CFP won’t want a do-over of Clemson’s 14-6 win earlier in the year.
Clemson will roll through Florida State and Citadel before struggling at South Carolina. It’ll give Miami a fight in the ACC Championship, but the Cane defense will rise up and take the title. Penn State will win out with ease beating Nebraska and Maryland.
Oklahoma State vs. NOtre dame
The CFP will give the Cotton the next-best Big 12 team. Since TCU will likely have three losses after losing in the Big 12 Championship, a 10-2 Oklahoma State that closes strong against Kansas State and Kansas will fit right in. Notre Dame will rebound from the Miami debacle to beat Navy and Stanford to earn a decent bowl slot.
usc vs. auburn
Pac-12 champ USC will be a dream get for the Fiesta – Sam Darnold’s last game will do huge ratings. The committee will have a hard time finding a spot for Auburn. It would love to put Notre Dame here, but it wouldn’t want a rematch with the Trojans, so instead of putting Auburn in the Orange vs. Clemson, the only spot is in Glendale.
College Football Playoff: Rose Bowl
No. 2 Miami vs. No. 3 Wisconsin
The performances on Saturday weren’t a fluke. Miami’s defense will get past Virginia and Pitt, and it’ll rise up and rock in a war with Clemson for the ACC title.
The Badger defense will shut down Michigan to a dead stop before surviving a surprisingly brutal challenge from Minnesota on the road. Everyone will pick Ohio State in the Big Ten championship – big – but four Buckeye turnovers will get Bucky into the CFP.
College Football Playoff: Sugar Bowl
No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Oklahoma
Survive and advance. Alabama’s defense will put on a clinic in a fantastic Iron Bowl win over Auburn, and then will come up with one late stop to get past Georgia and into the College Football Playoff for the fourth year in a row.
Oklahoma will blow past Kansas and win a wild shootout against West Virginia before pulling off a stunner in the rematch to TCU. The Sooners will get down early, but Baker Mayfield will rally the team in the second half for a brilliant come from behind win.
College Football Playoff National Championship: Atlanta
No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 3 Wisconsin
Brute force vs. brute force, finally, the lack of a downfield passing game will be a problem for the Badgers. After holding down the Miami offense and not turning the ball over, Wisconsin will get to the national title game and come up just short.
Alabama won’t be brilliant, but Jalen Hurts will slug out a tough win with a late interception leading to a bruising touchdown drive. The Crimson Tide make amends for last season’s loss with their second national title in three seasons.
