What’s Going To Happen

Can New Mexico State close out strong? It’s on a rough run losing three of its last four games, but if it can take down three of the last four – not crazy against an easy slate – the Aggies are going bowling.

But first, it has to take out a Texas State team that finally stepped up and got a second win, taking down Coastal Carolina in a 27-7 blowout.

No, even if the Bobcats catch fire, they’re not going to finish with the four more wins needed to get to a bowl game. But they need to set the tone for the program going into next year after a miserable first half of the season.

It’s this simple. Can TXST slow down the New Mexico State passing attack?

Maybe a little bit, but the offense has to keep the chains moving to give its defense a break. The Bobcats can bring a good pass rush, but they don’t force turnovers. On the other side, the O line can’t seem to keep defensive fronts from making big things happen in the backfield.

The Aggie defense isn’t anything special, but it can get to the quarterback just enough to survive. On the road, NMSU will own third downs on both sides of the ball, controlling the game throughout.
