What’s Going To Happen

Here you go, Memphis. Just win this, and you’re off to the American Athletic Conference title game. Win this, win that, and win against East Carolina in between, and you get one of the New Year’s Six bowl spots as the Group of Five champion representative.

With the only loss coming to UCF, the Tigers have rolled through the schedule with five straight wins with a solid offense that comes through when it needs to.

The defense can’t stop anyone on third down, and it seems like the offense has the ball for five minutes, but the production is fantastic and the D takes the ball away in bunches.

SMU has a bowl game wrapped up, but it would be nice to close strong after losing to UCF and Navy in back-to-back fights. It’ll get another win next week against Tulane, but beating Memphis would be the best victory of the season by far.

Expect a wild shootout.

Bot offenses crank up the passing game, neither one seems to care much about coming up with defensive stops, and they’re both used to playing in tight games.

Expect at least 700 passing yards between the two, but Memphis will have more of them. Riley Ferguson will do a bit more in the shootout to pull out a wild game that’ll go back and forth with several big mood swings.
