What’s Going To Happen

Marshall isn’t totally out of the Conference USA title hunt, but it’s out of the Conference USA title hunt. Now it’s jockeying for bowl position, while making WKU sweat out its own bowl eligibility.

The Hilltoppers have lost two straight, and now they need one more win with Middle Tennessee and FIU to follow – they’re not a sure thing to get a victory.

The offense is still working, but the defense isn’t timely and there haven’t been enough key plays to take control of games.

Marshall is also on a two-game losing streak – with the losses to FIU and Florida Atlantic all but ending the conference season – but it can make things interesting by winning out with at UTSA and Southern Miss to close.

Banged up WKU quarterback Mike White is hurt, but he’ll go for it against a Herd defense that’s great on third downs and will bring the pass rush.

The Herd line play is too strong. WKU doesn’t have a pass rush in any way, and the O line can’t keep defenses out of the backfield. With no Hilltopper running game to worry about, the Herd defensive front will tee off into the backfield and take over.

WKU won’t have the pop.
