Someone is going to end the misery.

Baylor has had a few interesting offensive moments, but the lack of any sort of defense has kept new head coach Matt Rhule from getting the program off the ground.

At least Kansas has a win.

Baylor started out the season with a loss to Liberty, but Kansas came up with a win over SE Missouri State to start the season – and that’s been it.

At least the Jayhawks were more interesting and competitive last week in a 30-20 loss to Kansas State – but that’s about all the fun the team has had.

This is it. Without a total clank from an opponent the rest of the way, this is the last realistic shot at a win for both teams.

One Reason Why Baylor Will Win

Kansas really, really can’t stop anyone’s passing game.

There are a whole slew of Big 12 teams that don’t do much against the league’s high-powered air shows, but Kansas doesn’t pick off passes – with just three on the year – and it can’t hang around with any team that’s able to push the ball a bit.

For all of Baylor’s issues, at least Charlie Brewer has grown into a solid young passes who provides a wee bit of hope.

Zach Smith continues to be a factor with his running ability, but when Brewer is on – like he was late against West Virginia – the offense can get moving.

One Reason Why Kansas Will Win

Did the Jayhawks find something in Carter Stanley?

Kansas threw for 44 yards in the loss to Iowa State, and just 46 more in the disaster against TCU. And then sophomore Carter Stanley got an honest shot against Kansas State, and he bombed away for 416 yards.

He missed on more than half of his passes, but he and Steven Sims went off – Sims caught nine passes for 233 yards and a score.

Is that enough firepower to keep up if Baylor gets going? The Kansas pass defense might be bad, but Baylor’s is worse.

What’s Going To Happen

Who’s finally going catch some sort of a break?

Baylor has had consistency issues, but the offense has more talent and more upside. Even when the Kansas sort of worked – like it did last week – the points weren’t coming.

This is still a struggling Jayhawk offense, but this week it’ll be able to crank it up with some scores finishing off the end of drives – a foreign concept at times for the Jayhawks.

But the defense won’t be able to handle the Baylor O that will finally start to show a little balance to go along with the bombing.
