WVU landed one of the top Junior College prospects in Charlie Benton yesterday. Benton was a 3-star recruit going into college. Benton plays for Butler Community College in Kansas and comes in at 6-foot-4 and 215-pounds.
Benton came on to WVU’s radar while playing safety. Safeties coach Matt Caponi was the first coach to try and recruit him. Even though he started out as a safety, he is expected to play outside linebacker once he arrives in Morgantown.
Butler is having a good season so far, averaging around 9 tackles a game and has 1.5 sacks. He also has 2 fumble recoveries and 1 interception returned for a touchdown.
Benton always dreamed of playing in a Power Five confrenece and now finally has that opportunity. Check back in to College Football news for updates as the story progresses.
