What’s Going To Happen

If you like running games, here you go.

The two teams might go about it in different ways, but they’re both tremendously successful.

The Bulls keep on rolling – even if the schedule is so easy that you and ten friends would be 6-0 playing against it.

The pollsters don’t seem to mind the mediocre slate, putting USF around the top 15, and now the big wins have to keep on coming. Houston is up next, and the UCF showdown comes at the end of the regular season, but for now, Charlie Strong’s club has to keep on doing what it’s doing.

Tulane took a major step back last week with a puzzling loss to FIU, stalling the momentum from a good two-game winning streak creating hopes to go bowling. There’s still time to get to six wins, and there are still a few winnable games left, but at some point, the Green Wave have to pull off a big upset or two to get there.

Beating South Florida would be a program-changing moment.

The Tulane triple-option attack averaged 278 rushing yards per game, but the defensive front doesn’t have the talent or the ability to stop the USF ground game.

The Green Wave don’t turn the ball over and they’re great at going on marches from time to time, but the D isn’t great at getting off the field.

USF isn’t get great at cranking up the running game to close to 300 yards per game, but the defensive front is dominant. It’s only allowed more than 100 yards twice, and even in those two instances against San Jose State and East Carolina, the respective running games didn’t go anywhere.

This is a bad matchup for Tulane. It can run, but the Bulls do it far better.
