What’s Going To Happen
When is Air Force going to show up and get this whole thing started?
The Falcons are competitive offensively, but the defense hasn’t even been close in losses on the road to New Mexico and Navy over the last few weeks, and they’ve yet to beat an FCS team in a rough 1-4 start.
But the schedule eases up a wee bit. This isn’t a bad game, and then comes Nevada, and then after the trip to Colorado State is the winnable game against Army. Don’t blow off this game with UNLV, though.
Not forgetting all the other issues the Las Vegas team has to deal with, UNLV is coming off a blowout loss to San Diego State. Other than the shocker to Howard to start the season, the Rebels have been great against against the bad teams, and lousy against the great ones.
Air Force is somewhere in between.
The combination of QB Armani Rogers and QB Lexington Thomas should be able to get the dangerous rushing attack moving against a shockingly-soft Air Force front. 124th in the nation against the run, the Falcons have had to deal with Navy, New Mexico, San Diego State and Michigan, but there’s nothing happening behind the line, and the option offense isn’t making up for the mistakes.
UNLV will play just well enough to keep this close, but the Air Force offense will take over in the fourth quarter with a few easy scoring drives to put this away.
