What’s Going To Happen

If this isn’t the MAC Championship, it’ll go a long way to determining who’ll at least take the West.

They’re the two remaining teams unbeaten in MAC play, and while they each have a whole lot of work to do, they’ve looked like and played like the conference’s biggest stars.

NIU is on a nice four-game winning streak, but they have yet to beat a team that’s a sure-thing to go bowling. But they’re in a nice position to take back the MAC with a great defense, a killer pass rush, and just enough of a ground attack to overcome a middling passing game.

Toledo is a bit more balanced with a terrific defense to go along with the MAC’s best offense. The passing game pushes the ball deep, and the Kareem Hunt-less ground game is still fantastic.

Northern Illinois has a real deal defense with the talent to rise up and make this a battle, but it doesn’t have the downfield passing attack to come back if Toledo gets hot early on.

The Rocket offense is humming, the defense hasn’t allowed more than 17 points in three of its last four games, and now it’s about to establish itself as the MAC’s top team.

NIU will be good, and the D will keep the game from getting out of reach, but the O won’t take advantage of its opportunities.
