What’s Going To Happen

It’s not a crazy thought in this strange Conference USA season that this might just be Round One. This could be a conference championship preview.

Florida Atlantic is on a two-game winning streak with the biggest games ahead against WKU and Louisiana Tech on the road and Marshall at home, but getting by North Texas would show staying power. This would be the moment when Lane Kiffin’s club proves it has the stuff to be a true possibility to win the title.

North Texas is on a three-game winning streak and appears to be just getting started.

The offense is solid, the team is winning the close games, and with a far easier schedule to go, this and the road game at Louisiana Tech are the remaining barriers to getting to the title game.

Mason Fine is coming off a 354-yard, three touchdown performance against UTSA, but now he’s going against an FAU secondary that’s playing as well as any in the conference.

But UNT’s defense should generate just enough pressure in the backfield to slow down the rested Owl O, and Fine and the league’s best offense should rise up on the road in an entertaining game.
