Eight MWC Teams Will Participate In Secret Scrimmages Over The Next Two Weeks
Boise State and San Diego State will both match up with Pac-12 opponents
Secret scrimmages for MWC teams begin as early as Saturday
Mountain West secret scrimmages were reported early Thursday, per ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.
Secret scrimmages are in addition to the two preseason games that have already been scheduled, as well as the extra exhibition used for charitable purposes.
The NCAA allows every team to scrimmage other teams in the preseason, but can’t make the game open to the public or announce the event.
Reporters and media members receive information about the scrimmages, though. The scrimmages are used as another opportunity for coaches to have simulated game-action before the regular season.
Here’s the full list of scrimmages involving Mountain West teams:
Boise State vs. Washington (10/29)
Colorado State vs. Weber State (10/28)
New Mexico at Northern Arizona (10/21)
New Mexico vs. Denver (11/4)
San Diego State at USC (10/28)
UNLV at California (10/28)
Utah State at Oregon State (10/28)
Wyoming at Utah Valley (10/28)
Four Pac-12 opponents highlight the list in Washington, USC, California and Oregon State. The two matchups that clearly stand out are San Diego State and USC as well as Boise State taking on Washington.
The four aforementioned teams are very familiar with one another, especially on the recruiting trails. Boise State and Washington and San Diego State and USC have had friendly competition over some of the West Coast’s top talent in recent years. Now, they will compete back on the hardwood.
MWC Wire will share details from these scrimmages as soon as they become available.
