Iowa State just changed up the 2017 Big 12 season.

Very solid early on, the offense was able to battle with Iowa, and although it was stuffed by Texas, it’s managed to crank up the production throughout the year.

And that included the 38 points hung on Oklahoma – with a backup quarterback.

Now, the hope of going bowling is real. But do the impossible and lose to Kansas at home, and that’s all gone.

The Jayhawks just aren’t getting any better.

Just 1-29 in their last 30 games against FBS teams, the one Kansas victory came over Texas, and before that, the last win came against Iowa State in 2014.

Something has to turn around in a hurry to provide hope.

One Reason Why Iowa State Will Win

Kansas still can’t stop turning the ball over.

There are way too many issues with the Jayhawks, but giveaways are taking potential battles and making them blowouts. KU has turned it over 13 times so far and has yet to win the turnover margin so far.

Iowa State is fantastic in turnover margin.

The Cyclone offense has been great no matter who’s under center. The passing game is working against everyone, with the combination of Kyle Kempt and Joel Lanning combining to hit 74% of their passes for 368 yards and three scores against Oklahoma.

Kansas is getting hit by everyone’s passing game – allowing FBS passers to connect on way over 70% of their throws. No matter who’s under center, the Cyclones will move the ball through the air.

One Reason Why Kansas Will Win

The Jayhawks offense is working. The ground game ripped through West Virginia, the passing attack is flying just fine, and other than last week against Texas Tech, blowing past 400 yards isn’t a problem.

Iowa State is good enough to potentially go bowling, but it’s still Iowa State.

The defensive front is fine, but the pass D can be bombed on and it doesn’t come up with enough big plays. If the Jayhawk attack can get going early, and if the offense can finally stop giving the ball away, there’s a chance to stay in this late.

What’s Going To Happen

Yeah, it’s still Iowa State.

But this Iowa State is for real.

Kansas will get its yards, but it won’t be able to keep up in the second half after the Cyclones struggle out of the gate. It appear to be Kyle Kempt’s ball for now, but can the Oklahoma hero do it all again? He won’t have to.

The Cyclone running game will finally start to roll, the defense will come up with four takeaways, and the fun will keep on going.
