Indiana needs a little bit of a reboot after getting blown out at Penn State 45-14 and starting the Big Ten season 0-2.

With Michigan up next, and three road games in four weeks to follow – and the home game in the mix against Wisconsin – this is the breather and the time to show a little more consistency with the passing game.

Charleston Southern started out the season being blown out and shut out by Mississippi State, but it rolled through Point University and Mississippi Valley State by a combined score of 124-7 over the last few weeks.

One Reason Why Charleston Southern Will Win

The lines aren’t all that bad.

The Buccaneer option rushing attack is just good enough to be a problem, doing a great job of controlling the tempo at times and averaging 227 yards per game.

On the other side, the defense dominates behind the line, ranking second in the FCS in sacks with 17. This group will attack, and attack so more, doing a nice job of forcing big mistakes.

One Reason Why Indiana Will Win

The Hoosier run defense just held Saquon Barkley to under three yards per carry. What hope does Charleston Southern’s ground game have?

IU already dealt with a run first/run only offense in Georgia Southern a few weeks ago. It gave up 242 yards on the ground – and won 52-17.

There were breakdowns late against Ohio State, but overall, the IU defensive front has been a rock against the run – the Bucs won’t go anywhere for long stretches.

What’s Going To Happen

Welcome to the Peyton Ramsey era.

After rotating quarterbacks, IU will turn to the freshman to take over the offense from Richard Lagow. Ramsey adds more mobility to the mix, and now this is the tune-up game to fight through the mistakes to get ready for what’s coming in Big Ten play.

The defense will pick up the slack when needed.
