Georgia Recruit Putting Up Crazy Numbers For Dacula High
Georgia will be seeking to replace a strong group of defensive backs during the next two recruiting cycles and Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker (pictured with Perry in July) have set their sites 30 miles down the road from Athens.
Jalen Perry, a four-star 2019 recruit from Dacula, has been doing it on both sides of the ball this season. The junior defensive back/wide receiver has a hosts of schools seeking his services. For now, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Ohio State are the leading contenders.
Perry is the Peach State’s top-rated junior cornerback. He has nine pass breakups and two interceptions this season. Last week, in a 28-0 victory over Gainesville, he had 240 all-purpose yards, forced a fumble and made four tackles.
For the season, the 6’1″, 176-pound athlete has rushed for 356 yards and four touchdowns on just 22 carries (16.2 ypc). He has 12 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown. On special teams, Perry is averaging 26.8 yards on kickoff returns and 12.8 yards on punt returns. He also has three special-teams tackles.
”Aside from being one of the single greatest natural athletes that I’ve been blessed to be around, it’s his long list of intangibles that make him so special,” Dacula coach Tommy Jones told Georgia High School Football Daily. “He possesses a fierce competitive drive, strong work ethic, genuine humility and team-first mentality.”
Georgia currently has the nation’s 3rd-rated 2019 recruiting class. The six current commits include three five-star preps and three four-star athletes.
