Georgia DT Trenton Thompson To Miss Vanderbilt Game
After suffering a sprained MCL in Georgia’s blowout win over Tennessee, star defensive tackle Trenton Thompson is ruled out indefinitely.
“Trenton’s injury is a sprained MCL,” coach Kirby Smart said. “He will be out for this game, but it was not as bad as we originally thought, which was good news. Basically after this week, he will be week-to-week.”
Thompson went into the locker room during the first half of Saturday’s game.
This is definitely a tough blow for UGA, however, the Dawgs do indeed possess good depth at interior defensive linemen.
“Tyler Clark is playing better than he did last year; he’s grown up a year,” Smart said. “Julian Rochester is playing better. Those guys have grown up and played more. With Trenton out, it’s going to put a little more pressure on Michail Carter to play a little more. David Marshall will play a little more. Tyler will take on a few more snaps. We are going to continue to sub guys. Michael Barnett and DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle will get a few looks.”
