Rams Look To Continue Winning Ways Against The Wolf Pack
What Colorado State Needs To Done To Go 3-0 In the Mountain West
Colorado State Keys To A Win vs Nevada
Colorado State’s task this weekend is to take down a Nevada Wolfpack team coming off of their first victory of the season.
Come Out Firing: Colorado State has to shatter whatever confidence Nevada may have gained from their win a week ago. Whether that means long sustained drives led by the the rushing attack or with a big play by wide receiver Michael Gallup. The Wolf Pack rank #117th in the country in total defense. Scoring points on them shouldn’t be much of an issue for the Rams offense.
Pressure: The Rams have to continue the defensive pressure that we saw last week against Utah State. They had 7 sacks a week ago and need to do that again this week. Gaining a lead and forcing Nevada quarterback Ty Gangi into passing situations will allow Defensive Coordinator Marty English to dial up various kinds of blitzes that will force Gangi into bad decisions.
Turnovers: Nevada ranks #107th in the country in turnover margin. Colorado State does the above and Nevada will be turning the ball over a couple of times. This can also work in the reverse however. If Colorado State coughs up the ball or in a key situation and allows Nevada a glimmer of hope then this game could be closer than the experts think.
What it really comes down to is for Mike Bobo’s group to be fundamentally sound. Run the ball, hold onto the ball and try to take the ball away from Nevada while not overlooking the Wolf Pack or thinking they’re inferior. If history tells us anything it’s that the fastest way to an upset in college football is doing just that.
