It’s the beginning of the Cory Hall era at Oregon State after the sudden departure of head man Gary Andersen. Things can’t be any worse no matter who’s coaching the hapless Beavers.

Not even close in any FBS game, Oregon State can’t score and can’t stop anyone else from scoring. Other than that, things have been great.

Colorado is also having a huge problem, struggling through an 0-3 Pac-12 start, getting rolled last week against Arizona after getting run on way too easily.

There’s still time to get three more wins and go bowling, but that’s not happening with a loss to the Beavers.

One Reason Why Colorado Will Win

The coaching change might get mean a change in attitude for the Beavers, but they’re still going to have problems putting points on the board.

Darell Garretson is trying his best, but he’s not making enough deep pass plays, one’s not able to run the spread like he’s good at doing, and the team isn’t moving the ball.

The biggest issue continues to be hanging on to the ball. The Beavers are close to dead last in the nation in turnovers, giving it up 17 times so far. Colorado’s defense – now that it’s playing someone its own size – should be able to come up with at least three takeaways.

One Reason Why Oregon State Will Win

The Beavers need to run.

If Garretson was ever going to start taking off, and if the Beavers were ever going to get the ground game going, this would be the week.

Washington hammered away, UCLA came up with a few key runs when it had to have them, and last week, Arizona QB Khalil Tate threw a party against the Buff D. The Cats ran for 413 yards and five scores with big run after big run.

OSU has yet to run for more than 155 yards in any game. Under the new regime, that has to be the first thing to change.

What’s Going To Happen

It’s not going to change.

Arizona’s running game is great, Washington is fantastic, and UCLA came up with a good performance in a desperately-needed win. Those three losses aren’t that bad.

Colorado’s offense will be fine, the defense will come up with the key takeaways, and this will blow open in the second half.
