The CFN ranking of all 130 teams – along with recaps and reaction – after Week 7

Week 7 Scoreboard & Predictions: How Did The Picks Do?

As often happens around this point in every college football season, everything gets all screwy.

While rankings have to be done based on what happened on the field more than anything else – seriously, AP and Coaches polls; you can’t have Michigan ahead of Michigan State – now with Clemson, Washington, Washington State, and Auburn losing, it’s almost impossible to do a simple Team A beat Team B beat Team C sort of ranking.

It’s possible to go six degrees of Howard over Clemson if you work at it hard enough.

So this is partly on eyeball test, but mostly based on head-to-head – without going too crazy to overreact to the big upsets.

However, now it’s time to move Texas A&M ahead of UCLA, Georgia Tech ahead of Tennessee. It’s also time to take into account that Arizona State’s losses are to San Diego State, Texas Tech and Stanford, and that Boise State has to be ranked higher than all of them, and Virginia needs to be ranked higher than them, and Indiana – whose three losses are to Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan, and beat Virginia at Virginia – has to be above them all.

And, of course, there are the new factors into the mix, like Khalil Tate’s rise at Arizona, quarterback injuries for some key teams, and so on.

So it is possible to be true to what has gone on over the first half of the season – at least somewhat.
