Week 4 Roundup
Are we all still sleeping on TCU? Could it really be the Big 12’s best team?
Totally disrespected by an obnoxiously wrong double-digit spread against Oklahoma State, the Horned Frogs rolled into Stillwater and put on a show.
The defense might have had a few problems, but the 44-31 win proved, at the very least, that this is the league’s second-best team.
For the moment.
West Virginia is playing well, but the Horned Frogs get two weeks off to prepare of the upcoming home game. That’s followed up by a trip to Kansas State, and there are still road games at Oklahoma and Texas Tech, but as the first part of the season has shown, being away from Fort Worth doesn’t matter.
TCU now has blowout road wins over Arkansas and Oklahoma State – this isn’t a fluke.
Veteran QB Kenny Hill is playing well, the pass rush is back to being at TCU form, the run D is allowing just 95 yards per game, and the dominance has returned when it comes to controlling the offensive tempo.
That’s a fantastic Oklahoma State team that TCU methodically rolled through.
This isn’t a perfect team, but the offensive line is getting the job done, the coaching staff remains as good as any in the game, and with Hill, there’s a suddenly-steady leader who continues to be great when he has to be.
With a Big 12 Championship out there, one loss along the way is fine now that the Horned Frogs got past what appears to be one of the biggest hurdles. And now, there’s swagger, production, and a confidence in the play that was missing throughout last season.
The Horned Frogs forced four takeaways, held the ball for over 39 minutes, and won with relative ease against a top ten caliber team the road.
After Oklahoma struggled so much with a miserable Baylor team, maybe TCU is the one everyone else in the league is chasing.
