USF won, even though Quinton Flowers had an off night.

At some point, USF will have problems after it starts out slow, but once the machine got rolling, Temple had no prayer.

The Bulls were up just 3-0 in the first quarter, with Flowers struggling a bit with the passing game and getting hit with a personal foul call. But it didn’t matter.

He still ran for 59 yards and two scores to make up for the 8-for-20, 96-yard passing night.

The rest of the Bulls picked up the slack with Darius Rice running for 117 yards and two scores, and D’Ernest Johnson taking off for 106 yards as part of a 312-yard day from the Bulls.

Throw in a dominant performance by the defense that picked off four passes and held the defending American Athletic champs to -4 yards on 33 carries, and this was the team’s best game early in the Charlie Strong era.

And it all happened with Flowers not being Flowers.

Now, American Athletic Conference. Imagine what’s going to happen when Flowers is Flowers again.
