Michigan 36, Cincinnati 14

1. Fine, it’s a win, but the Wolverines were a bit rocky. There was never any real threat of a loss, but the Bearcats made it a game into the fourth quarter. Two turnovers, seven penalties, and too many stumbles offensively – there’s still plenty to work on.

2. Give Cincinnati a little bit of credit. This is a good defense that’s very, very well coached. The Bearcats didn’t go anywhere – they gained just 200 yards and got stuffed on the ground – but this was supposed to be a bit of a grind at times. Even so, Ty Isaac did his part, running 20 times for 133 yards taking the pressure off the rest of the O.

3. Wilton Speight didn’t throw any pick sixes. He didn’t throw any picks. Solid, he completed 17-of-29 passes for 221 yards and two scores with a few nice deep plays. As the year goes on, and as teams pay more attention to Isaac, and as the young receivers get more work, this will be an even bigger play offense.
