One Reason Why Mercer Will Win
The defensive front might be able to get into the backfield a little bit.
The Bears won’t be Clemson on the defensive front when it comes to generating tackles for loss and big sacks, but so far they’ve been able to make things happen just enough to get the defense off the field.
Against the dangerous Wofford ground game, Mercer held up just enough to keep the game alive, while the secondary has been a rock over the first two games. Of course, playing the Wofford O has something to do with that, but the D might not be the total pushover Auburn fans might like.
One Reason Why Auburn Will Win
The Tiger defensive front will crush just about everything the Mercer offense tries to do.
The Bears have problems with turnovers against Wofford with five giveaways in the first two games. The offense has the ability to move the chains a little bit, but it’s about to get stopped cold by an Auburn defensive front that kept the Clemson game close with four sacks while allowing under 300 yards of total offense.
Offensively, after the problems in Death Valley, Auburn isn’t going to take it easy – there are still too many kinks to work out. If the O works, this might be over after just a few drives – the D will take care of the rest.
What’s Going To Happen
Auburn will get over the hangover in a big hurry.
The offense will come up with touchdowns on its first three drives, and then it’ll be about getting the backups involved. Everything should be ready for SEC play and Missouri – the O will look the part.
Auburn vs. Mercer Prediction
Auburn 47, Mercer 10
