10. USC at Washington State

LINE: USC -3.5, o/u: 65
OVER/UNDER PICK: Over

USC is the best defense Wazzu has faced so far be a mile, but still, coming up with at least 30 points with this offense shouldn’t be a problem. This might start out slowly, but the points in the late night game should come flying on the board over the second half.

9. Mississippi State at Auburn

LINE: Auburn -10, o/u: 49.5
OVER/UNDER PICK: Under

Is it possible that both offenses go off? Probably not. Considering the Auburn defense has yet to allow more than 14 points – even in road games gains Clemson and Missouri – and three of the four MSU games didn’t hit 49 points, go with the chance that this is a defensive war.

8. Colorado at UCLA

LINE: UCLA -7 o/u: 68.5
OVER/UNDER PICK: Over

68.5 points? In a game involving UCLA?! All four Bruin games so far have obliterated the 68.5 point total – the 79 combined points between UCLA and Hawaii were the lowest in any Bruin game so far. Colorado will do its part offensively.

7. Connecticut at SMU

LINE: SMU -23, o/u: 76
OVER/UNDER PICK: Under

Those who paid any attention to the East Carolina-UConn game will think the Huskies can score and now have a strong O.

Nope.

Granted, SMU doesn’t have a big-time D, but that ECU game was an aberration. This UConn O managed just 27 points against Holy Cross and 18 against Virginia.

6. Central Michigan at Boston College

LINE: Boston College -7.5, o/u: 58
OVER/UNDER PICK: Under

Neither defense is all that great, but the problem with this game will be the offenses – they both stink. BC has only managed a season-high of 23 points, and Central Michigan was only able to light up Kansas. 58 might be at least ten points too high.

5. Syracuse at NC State

LINE: NC State -12, o/u: 64
OVER/UNDER PICK: Under

No, the Syracuse offense isn’t anywhere near good enough to put up big points against this NC State D. Meanwhile, the Syracuse defense hasn’t been destroyed on a regular basis like it was last year, allowing a season-high 35 points to LSU last week. Don’t blow off the potential that the Wolfpack D pitches a gem and the Orange don’t go anywhere.

4. Charlotte at FIU

LINE: FIU -10, o/u: 48.5
OVER/UNDER PICK: Under

Charlotte can’t score. The 49ers have managed just 14 points total in three games against FBS teams, including getting shut down by Georgia State in a 28-0 loss last week. Meanwhile, FIU has yet to score more than 17 points. There’s an outside shot that the total is twice is high as it should be.

3. Akron at Bowling Green

LINE: Akron -2.5, o/u: 58
OVER/UNDER PICK: Under

Maybe two ugly people can get together and make a beautiful child. Maybe two bad offenses can suddenly crank it up when they play each other.

Akron has scored just 31 total points in three FBS games, and no Zip game – including the 52-3 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff – has hit 58 points. Of the four Bowling Green games, only one – a 35-27 loss to South Dakota – got to 58. Even the losses to Michigan State and Middle Tennessee weren’t even close.

2. Vanderbilt at Florida

LINE: Florida -10, o/u: 42.5
OVER/UNDER PICK: Under

Why do you think Florida is going to start scoring now that Luke Del Rio is at quarterback? The Gators still don’t have any playmakers, and yes, forgetting the Alabama game, the Vanderbilt defense really is very, very good.

And now its feelings are hurt.

The only concern is that all three of Florida’s games so far have blown past the 42.5 point mark, but the first three Vandy games didn’t hit it.

The last two Florida-Vanderbilt games? Last year, Florida 13-6. 2015, Florida 9-7.

1. Texas Tech at Oklahoma State

LINE: Oklahoma State -9.5, o/u: 81
OVER/UNDER PICK: Over

Oh come on … you know you want to.

Oklahoma State is averaging just under 50 points per game, Texas Tech scored over 50 in two of its three games. Just for the sheer craziness of what these two passing attacks might be able to do, go with the over.

Last year? OSU won 45-44. The year before? OSU 70-53. Even when the two played a defensive slugfest, OSU won 45-35 in 2014. The last time these two teams didn’t hit 80 points? 2011 – Oklahoma State won 66-6.
