One Reason Why Montana State Will Win

Washington State has a strange way of gagging away opening games against FCS teams, losing to Eastern Washington last year and Portland State to kick off 2015. The Cougars haven’t won a season lid-lifter since 2011 – they just don’t know how to get rolling under Mike Leach.

This is a dangerous Bobcat team that’s far better than the 4-7 version of last year – it’s good enough to pull this off.

MSU lost four games by six points or fewer, and now it gets back a team loaded with veterans led by safety Bryson McCabe and a good-looking young parts to the passing game.

Just experienced enough to hang around, the longer the Bobcat offense can control the game and keep it from getting out of hand, the faster the “oh no, it’s happening again” factor might kick in for Wazzu.

One Reason Why Washington State Will Win

You think it might be hammered into into Washington State’s head that it’s struggled in openers?

The offense should be at a whole other level under leach, with a fantastic group of backs working behind another good line and a next-level passer in Luke Falk. Wazzu might just outbomb Montana State and put this away instantly.

There won’t be any powering on the Cougar defensive front with the Bobcat line needing to undergo a wee bit of work. Don’t expect MSU to use the ground game to grind out drives.

What’s Going To Happen

The Cougars will exorcise their demons with ease. There will be a few moments when Montana State makes this a wee bit interesting, but Falk will throw for 400 yards as the offense makes a massive early statement that this really is a new year with a new team that knows how to win games like this.
