Texas State, UTSA and a guy named “Florence Butt” are now connected FOR ETERNITY
The Texas State Bobcats and UTSA Roadrunners announced a new in-state rivalry which has been branded “The H-E-B I-35 Showdown.” That’s cool. A little dashy though.
The Group of Five needs more peer-conference rivalries. Texas State and UTSA oblige with a much appreciated Sun Belt vs. C-USA battle. The second all-time meeting between the programs occurs September 23rd in San Marcos.
This intense, two-year-old rivalry is so hot, corporate interests leaped on board to brand and package the hate! H-E-B Grocery Company, founded in 1905 by Mr. Florence Butt, seized the game’s naming rights. And now “The H-E-B I-35 Showdown” is a real thing.
There are three dashes in this name, which has to be some kind of intercontinental record. But any rivalry sponsored by a man named “Butt” is something the whole world can get behind.
