A late and abrupt head coaching change led Clarke to explore other options

Former San Jose State forward Brandon Clarke has committed to Gonzaga, per his Twitter page Wednesday night.

Clarke averaged 17.3 points to go along with 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.5 blocks per game for the Spartans last season, leading SJSU to its highest win total as a Mountain West member. The 6-7, 190-pounder was named to the all-Mountain West first team in March.

After former Colorado assistant Jean Prioleau was named head coach (after Dave Wojcik resigned in July), it was expected that Clarke would at least consider other options. His initial list of schools of interest included Oregon, Gonzaga and Washington State.
