Football is fun on the Big Island again and Brown is a big reason why.
In what’s looking more and more like the Mountain West’s Year of the Quarterback, no one surprised more in becoming a part of that crowd than the next player on our list of the conference’s 50 best players.
Hawaii’s Dru Brown seized the starting role and led the Warriors to their first bowl win since 2006, throwing for 2,488 yards and (after adjusting for sacks) running for 457 yards. Brown was responsible for 23 touchdowns on the whole and ranked third in the conference in both 20- and 30-yard passing plays, supplying the kind of offensive excitement that fans on the islands (and the mainland, for that matter) hadn’t seen in nearly a decade.
