Dru Brown’s blindside will be well protected in 2017.
College football is always more fun when there’s a good team on the Hawaiian islands, and 2016’s surprise story was largely driven by offensive gains, some of which is owed to the next man on our countdown.
Hawaii’s Dejon Allen spent his first two seasons as a starter at guard, playing 23 games along the interior of the offensive line, before shifting to left tackle as a junior in 2016. He earned an second-team all-MW nod after helping the Warriors improve both their pass protection (24 sacks allowed was the lowest figure in at least a decade) and their running production (4.81 yards per carry, the best output since 2010).
Heading into his senior year, Allen could play his way into becoming the first Hawaii offensive lineman picked in the NFL Draft since 2009. Regardless, he will be an anchor for Hawaii’s hopes as they hope to take the next step toward contending for the West division title.
