Week 1 Mountain West Bowl Projections
Will there be a Mountain West team that goes to a New Year’s Six Bowl game?
Mountain West Bowl Tie-ins & Projections
College football sort of started this week with about a half dozen games at the FBS level but it did include three games within the Mountain West.
That amount is enough to revisit some bowl projections and make some changes from our initial rankings, because why not.
Right off the top we will say that in the preseason there will not be a Mountain West team projected in a New Year’s Bowl game, but that could change quickly and it will right now.
South Florida looked bad against San Jose State in the first quarter but they did rebound nicely for a convincing 42-22 victory, but that is enough to knock them out of that spot and replace them with Colorado State who beat a better Oregon State team and looked better doing so.
Yes, we know Colorado State plays Alabama in a few weeks but that would be a quality loss and could even outweigh a 13-0 South Florida team.
Look for seven Mountain West teams to go bowling taking the open spot at the Frisco Bowl and as of now Colorado State to a New Year’s Six bowl game.
