Media Predicts San Diego State Vs. Boise State In Mountain West Title Game
The Mountain West title game features a much anticipated matchup.
A rematch is projected for the Mountain West title game
The Mountain West media has made its selection for their projected order of finish and it was a unanimous on the Western Division with San Diego State pegged to win that half of the Mountain West. This is the first time in Mountain West history that a team that has earned preseason unanimous in back-to-back years.
On the Mountain side it was a much closer race with Boise State taking 21 of the 28 first-place votes and are pegged to face off against the Aztecs in the conference title games. If this were to happen it would be a rematch as these two teams meet in San Diego on Oct. 14.
Colorado State and Wyoming both earned first-place with the Rams earning six and the Cowboys earning the final first-place vote.
The rest of the Mountain Division there are not too many surprises with Air Force, New Mexico and Utah State rounding out the standings. The Lobos are projected for a big fall as they tied for the Mountain division title last year. They do lose talent like running back Teriyon Gipson and a lot on defense and that is why for a fall, but the Falcons lose 10 of 11 defensive starters.
In the West it is Hawaii who is behind heavy favorite San Diego State and it is not even close between the Warriors and UNLV who is projected to finish third. Four through six is Nevada — despite losing running back James Butler to Iowa — San Jose State and then Fresno State brings up sixth place.
