Welcome to the first look and picks for the biggest games of the 2017 college football season. These quick thoughts are being done in early June, with the real Fearless Prediction and expanded breakdown coming in August.
Early June First Thought: What’s Going To Happen?
You almost certainly didn’t see it, but these two played one of the most entertaining games of last season.
Hawaii needed the win to be bowl eligible, and it showed as the two teams traded massive shots in a wild and fun 48-40 Rainbow Warrior win. Now Hawaii is returning the favor by making the trip to Amherst.
For Nick Rolovich’s club, this is the start of a rough first month with three of the first four games on the road, paving to fly to Massachusetts, then back to Hawaii to play Western Carolina, then to UCLA, then to Wyoming.
For the Minutemen, to have any hope of a winning season, there can’t be any misfires at home, especially with three of the next four games on the road.
Does UMass have the firepower to keep up this time around?
The Rainbow Warrior passing game will take over as the game goes on, but the O will run just enough to take advantage of the mediocre Minutemen lines.
