With a Big 12 championship game this year, will the league have a better shot at getting into the College Football Playoff? If Oklahoma beats Ohio State in Columbus, and goes on to win the Big 12 title, then yeah.
As long as the Big 12’s champion finishes unbeaten or with one loss, it’ll be in. If it has two losses or more, then no.
Can the conference get a second team into the New Year’s Six? It’ll be tough, but as is, the league has to fill out all the bowl spots. That might only happen if it only gets one team into the CFP/New Year’s Six.
The Big 12 normally has a direct tie with the Sugar Bowl, but since that’s a College Football Playoff semifinal, there’s no automatic bid. However, at the very least, the Big 12 champion will go to a New Year’s Six bowl, if it’s not in the College Football Playoff.
