Wyoming (4-2) vs. Nevada (3-4) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 22
Game Time: 10:30 pm
Venue: Mackay Stadium, Reno, NV
If Nevada was ever going to turn this around, this would be it.
The Wolf Pack have lost three of the last four games, but they’ve got three of their next four games at home along with winnable games against New Mexico and UNLV. But while the schedule looks solid and the hope is there to turn this into a winning season, the run defense has to play the part and the passing game has to do something for an offense that hit the skids.
Making things worse, the Nevada linebacking corps is hurting with Brian Smith and the Wyoming ground game coming to town.
The Cowboy ground game didn’t rock against Air Force, but it did just enough to get by in a terrific win last week, but Brian Hill is kicking it in with 721 yards and eight scores on the year, and QB Josh Allen doing better and better with an effective three touchdown pass day.
But it’s desperation time for a Nevada offense that hasn’t scored more than 17 points in three of the last four games and four of the last five.
The sense of urgency might be there at home, but the Wyoming offense is starting to work and the ground game will take over early. Control the game, don’t turn the ball over, and run, run, run – the Cowboys can do that.
