Wake Forest vs. Duke Game Preview
Date: Saturday, September 10th
Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham, NC
Wake Forest got the win.
It might have been an ugly 7-3 win over Tulane to start the year, but any win is a good win for a veteran Demon Deacon team looking to inch its way toward a possible bowl spot. That likely won’t happen without a win over Duke.
The Blue Devils looked just fine without QB Thomas Sirk – out for the year hurt – in the opening-week win over NC Central with Daniel Jones getting his feet wet throwing for two scores and running for another. But it was the Duke ground game that got the job done taking off for 308 yards and four scores, and now it has to deal with a Demon Deacon defensive front that was a rock against the newly-improved Tulane rushing attack.
Can Wake Forest’s offense show some sign of life after coming up with just 175 yards? Yeah, but the Duke attack will be a wee bit better at home with Jones keeping things moving just enough take advantage of good field position thanks to another inconsistent Demon Deacon offensive day.
Can Duke freshman kicker A.J. Reed come through with a few key fourth quarter kicks? He’ll have to.
