Virginia (2-6) vs. Wake Forest (5-3) Game Preview

Game Time: 3:00 pm
Venue: BB&T Field, Winston-Salem, NC

Virginia gave Louisville all it could handle, holding on until a few late game heroics from Lamar Jackson ended the fun. It might not be a special first season under Bronco Mendenhall, but the team has been competitive and interesting, even in a three-game losing streak.
Now with three of the last four games on the road, and closing strong might be tough, but at least the team will have its chances to screw up some other teams looking at the Cavaliers as a sure-thing win.
Wake Forest is looking at them in the same way.
Three of the Demon Deacons’ last four games are at home, and while being in the ACC title chase might be out of the question after losing three of the last four games, they’re a mortal lock to go bowling … maybe.
This is the game they have to have. Louisville is next up on the road with Clemson to follow. The last thing the team wants is to need a win over Boston College and that defense to save the season – it needs to get job done now.
Can the Demon Deacon offense kick it back into high gear after scoring just 19 points in the last two games and going nowhere against Army in a 21-13 loss last week?
The defense has to shut down the Cavalier passing game – Virginia doesn’t have a ground attack – with the Wake Forest line hanging out in the backfield and slowing down drive after drive.
It’ll be a grind, but the Demon Deacons will bounce back from an ugly run to become bowl eligible. They won’t care how it’ll look.
