Georgia Tech (2-0) vs. Vanderbilt (1-1) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, September 17th
Game Time: 12:30 pm
Venue: Bobby Dodd Stadium, Atlanta, GA
Network: ACC Network
Can the tremendous Vanderbilt defense load up to stop a Georgia Tech offense that’s been good, but not it’s normal dominant self?
The Yellow Jackets don’t have the efficient passing attack rolling, and while Justin Thomas was able to get the job done to get them by Boston College and its nasty run D, the ground game is only averaging 241.5 yards per game and isn’t as effective as it should be – even though it rumbled against Mercer for 345 yards. Fortunately for Tech, the Vanderbilt offense isn’t doing a thing.
The Commdores have the second-least efficient passing game in college football, and the running game is just barely able to pick up the slack. However, they managed to stop a dangerous Middle Tennessee team and rumble for five rushing touchdowns in a big, potential season-changing win.
It’ll be an ugly defensive game with field position at a premium. Georgia Tech’s punting game has been a problem, and the Vandy D is good enough to hold up against the option for a key home Commodore win.
