UNLV (1-3) vs. Fresno State (1-3) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 1
Game Time: 10:30 pm
Venue: Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas, NV
Network: CBS Sports Network
It’s a showdown of two teams that should be a whole lot better than they actually are.
Fresno State inexplicably can’t throw the ball a lick, and it has an even harder time stopping the run despite a slew of good athletes up front who can move.
UNLV shockingly did what it absolutely couldn’t do and lost to Idaho at home. It was going to be a fight to dream about getting to six wins and being bowl eligible, and now the Rebels can forget about that with the loss to the Vandals.
Losing QB Johnny Stanton for a month to a knee injury won’t help, either.
Fortunately, for UNLV, it has a ground game to rely on to pick up the slack. Stanton was responsible for a bulk of that, but Lexington Thomas will all of a sudden have to turn into a bit of a workhorse to make up for the concern with freshman Dalton Sneed and the passing game that wasn’t working before, and now should be stagnant.
The Bulldogs might have way too many problems, but they showed last week they can crank up the offense a little bit – at least before the epic collapse in the double overtime loss to Tulsa.
They still can’t stop the run, though, and the Rebels can – at times. UNLV will find a way to pull this off at home.
