UCLA (3-6) vs. Oregon State (2-7) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 12
Game Time: 9:00 pm
Venue: Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA
It’s been a disastrous season for a UCLA that was supposed to be good enough to be in the hunt for the Pac-12 title. Instead, it’s on a four-game losing streak, QB Josh Rosen is done, and things might get a whole lot worse.
On the plus side, not only is UCLA still alive for a bowl game if it can win the final three games, but it might be in thanks to the Academic Progress Report by winning two of the last three.
But first, the offense has to gear it up at home against a poor Oregon State team that’s not getting better.
There was a moment that looked like the Beavers might make a major shift after beating Cal and looking good against Utah, and then it was back to losing without much of an offense. There have been some competitive moments, but not enough of them.
The passing game isn’t alive, the ground game isn’t able to make up for it, and the defensive front isn’t getting the job done. But with home games against Arizona and Oregon to close things out, there’s still a shot at finishing strong, if the Beavers can come up with an upset to all but ruin UCLA’s year.
The Bruins have the second-worst running game in the country, the Beavers have the second-least efficient passing attack.
The UCLA ground game will finally show up and won’t be so miserable.
Next-level awful running the ball, the Bruins will hit the 100-yard mark for just the fourth time all year to finally take some of the heat off of the passing game from carrying the O. Mike Fafaul can throw enough pull this off if he has to, but this week, he won’t have to.
