Tulsa (7-3) vs. UCF (6-4) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 19
Game Time: 8:00 pm
Venue: Bright House Networks Stadium, Orlando, FL
While both teams are technically in the hunt for a piece of their respective division titles, they’re realistically out of it. However, they’re both bowl eligible, and they’re both very, very entertaining.
Tulsa’s offense has rolled for over 500 yards per game with the attack scoring 40 points or more in seven of the last eight games and eight of the ten. The defense is occasionally giving up points just as fast as the offense can get them on the board, but the O has been so good that it hasn’t often mattered.
UCF rolled over Cincinnati to get to six wins and make the turnaround in the first year under Scott Frost officially amazing. The offense might not be stellar, but the defense has been a rock over the last month, giving up just six points to Tulane and three last week to Cincinnati, dong a phenomenal job against the pass and doing an amazing job on third downs.
LB Shaquem Griffin continues to be a force behind the line with 4.5 sacks over the last three games, and he and the rest of the Knights have to get to Dane Evans early and often. When the Golden Hurricane quarterback gets time, he’s amazing.
Last week he picked apart Navy for 369 yards and four scores, and on the year he’s kept the mistakes to a minimum against everyone but Ohio State, and now he’ll have one of his toughest challenges yet.
At home, UCF will be able to keep it close, but the Tulsa offense is way too sharp right now and is way too potent. But the Golden Hurricane D will have its positive moments, too, to stay ahead throughout.
