Texas A&M (7-3) vs. UTSA (5-5) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Nov. 19
Game Time: 12:00 pm
Venue: Kyle Field, College Station, TX
Texas A&M’s season basically ended with a fourth quarter collapse last week to Ole Miss, going from fourth in the College Football Playoff rankings a few weeks ago to a third loss in four games, to go along with the loss of QB Trevor Knight for the season.
This is still a good team with the potential to finish with ten wins, but after a 6-0 start, the team is in desperate need of something positive.
UTSA might not be the layup team to change that around with ease.
The Roadrunners won four games in five dates before getting unexpectedly blown away an amazing Louisiana Tech team last week. They’ve got a decent enough offense to rise up with a few decent drives, while the defense – La Tech 63-35 loss aside – has been outstanding at times, especially on third downs.
But, of course, it all comes down to how much Texas A&M is going to care.
The Aggies are going to win – they have too much firepower and should be able to explode for a quarter to put this away – but as UTSA showed earlier in the year against Arizona State, they’re good enough to control the clock and grind this out a bit.
Roadrunner QB Dalton Sturm has to play better than he has over the last month, while Jarveon Williams and the running game have to get going early. The Aggie run defense has been suspect at times, and while it’s not going to get ripped apart, it’ll be just shaky enough to allow UTSA to keep this from being too brutal.
