TCU (2-1) vs. SMU (2-1) Game Preview
Date: Friday, September 23rd
Game Time: 7:00 pm
Venue: Gerald J. Ford Stadium, Dallas, TX
Let’s just cut to the chase – can TCU stop the run?
The Horned Frogs are going to win the game. SMU doesn’t have a passing game with freshman Ben Hicks at the helm, but Braeden West and the group of young running backs have been outstanding for a ground attack averaging 5.6 yards per carry.
TCU’s secondary bounced back after two rough outings to start the season, but everyone gets healthy against Iowa State.
With Oklahoma coming up next, through, the run defense that hasn’t been all that bad has to be even stingier after stuffing the Cyclones for under three yards per pop.
It shouldn’t be much of a problem with the D able to get in the backfield, attacking more last week than it did in the first two games and generating more pressure. SMU doesn’t have a shot to make this fun if it can’t come up with at least 250 yards on the ground, and that’s not going to happen.
The Mustangs might have a balanced offense, but after being hit hard early by Kenny Hill and company, bombing away to try to keep up will be a big issue for the challenged Mustangs.
This is when TCU starts to kick it in.
