San Diego State (2-0) vs. Northern Illinois (0-2) Game Preview

Game Time: 3:30 pm
Venue: Huskie Stadium, DeKalb, IL

Oh great. Northern Illinois is without its quarterback again.
Drew Hare suffered a second straight season-ending injury, and this comes on top of an 0-2 start with the running game coming nowhere near the level of normal Huskie teams.
The defense has been abysmal, and the offense isn’t working well enough. And now it has to face one of the Group of Five’s best defenses.
San Diego State might have been ripped apart by Davis Webb and Cal last week, but that’s an aberration against a gimmicky offense that bombed away to try saving face thanks to its miserable run defense.
Donnel Pumphrey – fresh off his 281-yard day against the Bears – won’t have to do it alone, and his defense will play much, much better against Ryan Graham. The NIU sophomore can throw, but this isn’t a defense you want to see in your first big moment.
This is when San Diego State looks the part of a dangerous Mountain West threat again.
