Previews & Breakdowns of Every Mountain West Team

2016 CFN Preseason Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year

RB Donnel Pumphrey, Sr. San Diego State
How good has be been? There’s a chance he could walk among the college football running back gods if he comes up with a 1,500-yard season, he could finish his career among the top rushers of all-time. He’s small, light, and really, really fast, doing a great job of darting in and out of traffic with great breakaway speed. He’s not going to have to carry the whole load, but he can. He’s too good to not get the ball in his hands as much as possible.

2016 CFN Preseason Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year

CB Damontae Kazee, Sr. San Diego State
The All-America-caliber defensive back is just one of several phenomenal stars on the loaded Aztec D. The 5-11, 185-pound veteran came up with eight picks last season while also using his quickness and skills as a top punt returner. One of the nation’s best all-around defensive backs, he can tackle, cover, and lead the way to another massive season from the secondary.
