CFN Preseason Top 25 American Athletic Conference Players

CFN 2016 Preseason American Athletic Offensive Player of the Year

QB Greg Ward Jr., Sr. Houston

Houston is the hot program coming off its breakthrough season under head coach Tom Herman, and Ward is the lead star of the pack. He’s build like a punter, but the 5-11, 185-pound playmaker ran for over 1,100 yards and 21 scores, and was an efficient and effective passer. He’ll do it all again.

CFN 2016 Preseason American Athletic Defensive Player of the Year

LB Steve Taylor, Sr. Houston

While Greg Ward might be Houston’s signature star, it’s Taylor who defines the defense with great quickness and a nose to always be around the ball and in the backfield. He might not be a true thumper at 6-1 and 225 pounds, but he can fly generating ten sacks along with 92 tackles.
