Old Dominion (4-3) vs. UTEP (2-5) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 29
Game Time: 8:00 pm
Venue: Sun Bowl, El Paso, TX
Alright, Old Dominion. If you really want to be a sleeper in the Conference USA race, and if you’re good enough to go bowling, you’ve got to take this game down.
UTEP came up with a thrilling five-overtime win over UTSA last week for just its second win over the season, but the offense hasn’t been able to put the biscuit in the basket time for most of the year, scoring four more points last week in one game than it did over the previous five.
ODU’s defense has hardly been a rock, but it’s been great against the mediocre offenses. It can’t stop the high-octane, efficient passing games, and that’s not what the Miners do.
The Monarchs continue to get big performances out of QB David Washington, throwing for 200 yards or more for the fifth straight game with a two touchdown day in the blowout loss to WKU.
He’ll be outstanding on third down after third down against a Miner defense that can’t do much behind the line and can’t make key stops it needs to on long scoring drives.
On the road, expect an efficient, effective day from the ODU attack on the way to being just one step away from bowl eligibility.
