Oklahoma State (4-2) vs. Kansas (1-5) Game Preview
Date: Saturday, Oct. 22
Game Time: 12:00 pm
Venue: Memorial Stadium, Lawrence, KS
Is Oklahoma State ready to start playing?
The talent is in place to be deep in the hunt for the Big 12 title, but the defense has been puzzling all season long, and the offense hasn’t always been able to pick up the slack.
So far, OSU is 4-0 when scoring 38 points or more, and 0-2 when scoring fewer. No pressure.
Kansas has been just good enough to rise up and perform well at times when the opponent doesn’t show up – like TCU two weeks ago – but when it’s not happening, it’s really not happening.
The offense still doesn’t have anything it can rely on weekly, especially on the ground, and the mistakes just won’t stop with a whopping 22 turnovers on the year and nine over the last two weeks. Even when there’s something positive happening, the offense ends up shooting itself in the foot.
Oklahoma State can’t overthink this.
With two weeks off, the team should be rested and ready to hit the second half of the season hard. Last year, the Cowboys turned on the 83-mile-per-hour fastball in a 58-10 win – with Mason Rudolph hit 77% of his throws for 305 yards and a score – and it should happen again.
Rudolph has been magnificent over the last two games, throwing for 743 yards and seven touchdowns with no picks in the wins over Texas and Iowa State, and he’s going to keep it all going.
Kansas won’t have the offense to stay alive for more than a half, but it’ll still show up against the porous OSU D.
