Why Central Michigan Will Win

Is Cooper Rush ready to go off? The Chippewa quarterback might be the best pro prospect passer in the game, but he threw two picks and wasn’t all that sharp in the opener against Presbyterian. He’s too good to have two mediocre games in a row, and now it’s his job to bomb away to keep up the pace. The rest of the team made last week a 49-3 laugher, but now it’s all on Rush to make the passing game fly. He’s good enough to keep CMU in the game and answer any OSU scoring run. He gives the Chips a puncher’s chance.

Why Oklahoma State Will Win

Nearly flawless. That was Oklahoma State’s laugher of an opener against SE Louisiana with the depth getting a chance to see real game action – it was over quick. Central Michigan will be feisty, and the Cowboys can’t just show up and think it’s over running out of the tunnel, but as long as Mason Rudolph gets a little time to work, ripping up the Chippewa secondary won’t be a problem.

On the other side, after camping out in the backfield all throughout the game last week, the defensive front should get to Rush – and the CMU rushing game – in key spots. The Cowboys got help from several different parts to rotate in – CMU doesn’t have the O line to hold up.

What’s Going To Happen?

Rush will throw for over 300 yards to keep the Chippewas alive and kicking into the second half, but the Oklahoma State floodgates will soon open. The offensive balance will be too much for a CMU defense that won’t hold up as the game goes on.
